Bill Beard and Bob Dykoski Check their pockets before boarding the bus.

The "Bob Dykoski Annual Boat Trip" began in 2011 when Bob invited Bill Beard to come to Minnisota for an outing on Bob's boat. Bill saw this as an opportunity to organize a larger group for the purpose of reuniting old Navy friends. Here is the story, written by Bill Beard

About four years ago Corinne and I went to visit Patti and Bob Dykoski's and they took us out on their pontoon boat for a beautiful ride on lake Minnetonka. They went to the end of the lake, about 14 miles and they took us for dinner. We had a lovely time and a great visit.

When we got home I thought wouldn't it be great if I got in touch with some old sailors and we went on this little trip. So I called Lonnie Oneil Cucinitti and he said "I need a break Ill be up."Boy that was easy, so I called Ed Krenk and he said "Give me a couple of hours and I'll see what's up here" I called him back in two hours and he said " I'm all packed" Then I called Bill Melby. He knew Bob from way back. I told Bill I thought he should ride his Motorcycle to Minn. and we would go on a boat ride with Bob.He said " I'm not going to ride that far Oh Oh my first turn down but then he said " but I got air miles." Lonnie was going to fly up but then decided to drive. So I said if he drives he will have to pick up Ed. They both said that works. Then I called Bill and said fly to Madison Wi. and I will pick him up and we'll drive up together. Then I informed Bob that we were coming up and all I needed was a weekend.

We reached Dykoski's about the same time Fri. eve, went out to dinner and the next day the first Bob Dykoski Boat Ride was held. A good many stories were told and a good time had by all.

When I got home I decided the second Bob Dykoski Boat Ride would be held in the Dells. With Corinne and my son Jake's help it came together. I added three more to list Gary Sheldon ,Florida  A good friend of Bob and I, Kent Hanby ,Alabama. I didn't tell Bob about Kent because they had a falling out ,something about a car, but Kent told the story about someone else wanting to borrow his car so he told the guy that if he got  him a date he would drive this guy and his date,.and thats how he met his wife Janice. He is no longer mad at Bob but Janice is. LOL I also invited a special friend of mine Joe Hoffman. He served on the Kitty Hawk with us.The wives were also invited but not on the boat ride but I think they had a better time

without us. This was a full weekend and I hope a good time was had by all

Some have asked how this was named The Annual Bob Dykoski Boat Ride . We might have named it something else even the Bill Beard boat ride but then we probably would not have had the 2nd annual boat ride for nobody would have showed up for it..

Bill Melby volunteered for the 3rd Bob Dykoski Boat Ride. The third annual Bob Dykoski Boat Ride was held in Helena Montana and Bill and Carol did a great job. The ride it self was held on the Beautiful Missouri River. The only down side was that Lonnie couldn't make it  Corinne couldn't make it either because of health issues and the length of the trip. She wouldn't  let me drive but she did fly me first class. Did you know that you don't have to rattle your ice to get a drink in First class. You can't drink enough to make up the difference in price.

A good time was had by all. Bill and Carol did a great job and made everyone feel welcomed.

Gary and Tricia Sheldon volunteered for the fourth Annual Bob Dykoski Boat Ride.Tricia did not find out that she volunteered till Gary got home. She won't allow him to come alone again.

The fourth Annual Bob Dykoski Boat Ride was held in St.Cloud, Florida and Tricia did a fantastic Job. Gary only had one job (the Weather) and it rained on the day of the boat ride. Because of Tricia it was one great weekend..Gary made up for the weather by getting his son-in-law Bill involved including piloting the boat.

Again others were added to the list. They were(Jerry and Judy) Gerald E Kernagis, (Mike) Michael D. Snider, (Phil and Pat) Philip Markin. Two others were invited Nina Grizzard and she could have invited Bill if she had insisted. The other was Buddy Lee Paul and his wife but they got rained out when they hit Florida so they packed up and headed for home.

We really missed Lonnie Cucinitti, Ed and Sharen Krenk and Joe and Celia Hoffman.(Priorities?????)

The fifth Annusl Bob Dykoski Boat Ride is to be held in Dadeville,Alabame. Kent and Janice Hanby have volunteered. We all have to pray for Kent and his health. Also for Janice for she has to put up with Kent.

Hope to see everyone in April 2015.

If anyone has anything to add to the record feel free to add to this
